Raven God is firmly rooted in the old school black metal tradition. Not overly raw (thankfully), but with plenty of room for melody. Overall, this is an album that feels complete for its variation in approach and pace. The vocals are hoarse and understandable, the latter being a bit of a rarity I feel. Raven God causes no revolution in the land of black metal, nor does it pretend to. Great album! Bloedarend
Mr. brainscraper said it pretty well, these guys quickly made their way to the top of my favorite artists list, up there with Burzum and Mgła. I suggest blindly purchasing this without questioning it even if you don't particularly like black metal. 666☆s/10 Viktor Forsberg
For raw black metal this is the album I would now give people to introduce the genre. The cover will either draw or repel you, and then the music will have the same effect. None of Vide’s material has been quite this good, but Hanging By The Bayou Light is a very hard record to surpass. Metallurgical Fire
